At this point, picturing Anya Taylor-Joy without her signature cascade of blonde hair is legitimately difficult, but she seems very ready to part with her long locks.

Apparently, the actress is itching to trade her long hair for a buzzcut and has been campaigning for permission to shave her head for her leading role in the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, Furiosa.

According to the film's costume designer, Jenny Beavan, Anya wants to shave her head for the part, just like Charlize Theron did when she played the character. Apparently the movie's director, George Miller, isn't convinced it's the right look for the prequel though.

'She wants to, but George doesn’t want her to,' Beavan told Variety. 'So I don’t know whether she will or not.'

The director was also nervous about the look when Charlize Theron suggested it for Furiosa the first time around.

'George [Miller] and I had gone through various different looks and ideas,' Theron said of the origin story behind the buzzed look in the movie (per Bustle). 'I didn’t know how to fit into this world. I wanted something that could kind of disappear, and I didn’t know how to do it with a ponytail. The more we did it, it was still a ponytail. I had done a press junket, my hair was really fried. I had a night where I thought, what if we just shave it? I called George, I woke him up at 3 am, and he was really quiet. Then I could hear him breath, like he took a deep breath, and I took that as a positive.'

So she immediately buzzed her hair off herself:

When the cut was done, Theron snapped a selfie and sent it to Miller, who immediately agreed it was the right move. So, if Anya decides to take matters into her own clippers too, history suggests he'll come around.
