Anya Taylor-Joy might not have been able to attend the 2021 Golden Globes in person, but that didn't stop her from going all out with her outfit. The actress wore a beautiful emerald green Dior look, custom-made by creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, to virtually attend the awards.

Her look was expertly captured by stylist Law Roach who was responsible for the striking ensemble; he shared a series of pictures and videos of the actress getting ready and waltzing through a hotel ballroom in the fitted lurex gown, which came with a matching floor-sweeping cape and classic court shoes, made from the same fabric. She could also be seen posing for her official Golden Globes portrait in his behind-the-scenes footage.

The actress paired her couture gown with glittering Tiffany & Co diamond jewellery.

The dress, which featured a draped bust and sheath, took three Dior workers 300 hours to make in the atelier. It also featured a low, scooped back with delicate cross-over straps.

The inspiration for the top of the dress, with its belted silhouette, came from a previous look in the autumn/winter 2018 couture collection.

She wore her long, platinum-blonde hair in a deep side-parting, with gentle, Veronica Lake-inspired waves. Her make-up look was equally old Hollywood, with an emphasis on full, fluttery lashes and a bold lip.

The actress then changed into a second Dior look for the evening, an ice-blue strapless gown which had a hint of Cinderella magic to it.

The satin cuir dress took two people 150 hours to make, and was inspired by the original 'Miss Dior' dresses.

It was a successful night for Taylor-Joy, who was named Best Actress in a Television Motion Picture for her role as Beth Harmon in Netflix hit The Queen's Gambit - her first Golden Globe award. She won out over some particular stiff competition, namely Nicole Kidman (The Undoing), Cate Blanchett (Mrs America), Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), and Shira Haas (Unorthodox).

"Oh my goodness!" Taylor-Joy said in her acceptance speech. "Thank you so much! Nicole, Cate, everybody, thank you. I've spent so much time with you over lockdown, I feel like I know you. Thank you so much for your work."

Her win makes her the first ever Latina actress to triumph in that category. The Queen's Gambit also won the prize for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology or TV Movie.

The British-Argentine actress was also nominated for her leading role in film Emma in the Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical Motion Picture category, but the award went to Rosamund Pike for I Care A Lot.
