Declan Donnelly surprised Ant McPartlin on the set of I'm A Celeb with a very special birthday gift – a multi-function pen.

The duo went viral last month for their pure and wholesome reaction to a multi-use pen; it wasn't just for writing, it was a stylus, a spirit level, and a screwdriver all in one. Phillips and flat head no less. But that wasn't to be the last we saw of the implement...

Ant turned 45 on Wednesday (18 November) so Dec decided to really pull out all the stops, gifting him a giant present – which was actually just a load of increasingly smaller boxes inside bigger boxes until it came to a flat-ish rectangle – and lo, as we live and breathe, there was the pen. What a day!

"Do you know what, I don't care what it is, because you had to wrap three boxes and he hates wrapping," Ant says to Dec mid-unwrap.

Ant is so chuffed with the gift, he shrieks, "YES! It's one of the pens! It's one of them! I've never been so happy. That's my favourite present," before giving Dec a huge hug.

Ant and Dec posted a clip on Instagram of the Miracle Pen back in October, when they were blown away by the infinite possibilities they held in their hands – ruling, writing, screwing, measuring – they were full of joy, and it was exactly what we all needed in these tough times.

Elsewhere on I'm A Celeb, two new campmates were late arrivals; opera singer Russell Watson and West End star Ruthie Henshall joined the rest of the celebrities in Gwrcyh Castle in Wales.

They were welcomed with slime, fish guts and maggots, with Russell chipping his tooth in the process. Oops.
