This Is How Anne Hathaway Kept Her Pregnancy A Secret On The Set Of The Witches

From ELLE

Anne Hathaway has revealed how she kept her pregnancy a secret on the set of The Witches, saying that she had to do some quick thinking during costume fittings to keep the news from getting out.

During an interview on Live with Ryan and Kelly, The Witches star revealed that she had just found out she was pregnant when she started filming for the Roald Dahl remake, and as a result she had to use some pretty imaginative excuses when it came to certain things she couldn't do on set.

This was particularly tricky when costume designer Joanna Johnston suggested Hathaway's character should have a very cinched in waist.

'She goes, "I really want you to have a really tight waist."' Hathaway explained. 'And I had just found out that I was pregnant and I was like, "Mmm, no. No, I don't think so. No." And she was like, "Well, why?" And I was like, "Eh, you know, I just know myself." I'm scrambling for a reason.'

'And I'm like, "I just know myself and I know that I won't be as free. I won't be as free if I'm constrained around my middle, so we just better make everything very loose,"' Hathaway told Live with Ryan and Kelly.

Revealing to the show that she had been pregnant during filming Hathaway said, 'Now I have a beautiful almost-11-month-old boy, but I was pregnant when I made The Witches, so technically he's all over that performance.'

She also revealed her new son's name to fans for the first time, as she spoke about his relationship with her and her husband Adam Shulman's other son, four-year-old Jonathan Rosebanks.

'Now Jack's big enough to wrestle with, and that's brought a new element to their relationship that's really cute,' she said.
