In preparation for an upcoming role, Anne Hathaway will be gaining some weight, in doing so, she's preemptively shutting down her body-shamers in stride.

The Oscar-winning actress took to Instagram yesterday, simply to let fans know that she's purposefully putting on some pounds for a new movie role - and negative commenters should keep their opinions to themselves.

The Devil Wears Prada star posted a video, showing a time-lapse of her weight-lifting workout routine (which looks pretty gruelling). In the caption, Hathaway offered an explainer.

"I am gaining weight for a movie role and it is going well," the actress said to her 10.4 million Instagram followers, before preemptively shutting down her future haters.

"To all the people who are going to fat shame me in the upcoming months, it’s not me, it’s you. Peace xx," Hathaway added.

The workout run-though offered no sound, though the 36-year-old actress quipped that she was considering setting the gym routine to a body-positive track. "PS- I wanted to set this to Queen's 'Fat Bottomed Girls' but copyright said no. Continued peace xx," she added.

Hathaway is no stranger to unsolicited public ridicule. She previously attracted a surprising amount of hate during the 2013 awards season (when she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, for her portrayal of Fantine in Les Misérables).

In an interview with Harper's BAZAAR the year following, the actress explained that the experience dealing with negative media attention taught her how to rise above pettiness.

"People treated me a certain way," said Hathaway in the interview. "But I've grown from it. This whole thing has made me a way more compassionate and loving person. And I don't feel sorry for myself."

Hathaway also experienced body-shaming first-hand after Les Mis, when there was a negative focus on her weight loss for the role.

"I damaged my health during Les Mis, which I didn't want to mention in case it seemed like I was courting sympathy," Hathaway explained of her slim appearance, which was put on blast at the time.

After understanding the severity of the harsh Hollywood limelight, Hathaway has chosen to take a proactive approach with her forthcoming body change this time around, shutting down her critics before they have a chance to speak out.

So, to anyone even considering commenting on Hathaway's body in the future - the award-winning actress is asking that you think again.
