The Weeknd's Fans Are Convinced He Just Confirmed He's Dating Angelina Jolie In New Song

Angelina Jolie And The Weeknd are joining the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck in 2022's ‘couples we’re excited about’ category.

While Jolie and The Weeknd – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – might not have the history of Bennifer, their rumoured romance is no less fascinating, given their numerous public meet ups last year and mutual love of Italian restaurants (more on that below).

While the actor hasn't confirmed rumours of a relationship, she hasn't exactly shied away from being photographed by the paparazzi when out together.

The romance would mark Jolie’s first public relationship following her divorce from Brad Pitt (with whom she’s in a custody battle) in 2019, and The Weeknd’s since his split from model Bella Hadid the same year.

Are Angelina Jolie and The Weeknd dating?

Fans are convinced The Weeknd has confirmed his relationship with Jolie.

On January 6 the award-winning singer released his latest album Dawn FM, which features the likes of Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Jim Carrey, and Quincy Jones. However, its his track 'Here We Go... Again' that has sent social media and his fans into a tailspin.

At the end of the track The Weeknd croons:

Okay so we can't help but notice that not only is the singer referencing a new romance in his lyrics, but it's one with a movie star and he's seemingly fallen for her.

Of course, shortly after the song's release the star's fans took to Twitter to share their reactions.

'So The Weeknd is really dating Angelina Jolie huh, [sic]' wrote one user.

'aye so uh....did this confirm that you're with Angelina Jolie? @theweeknd, [sic]' added another.

One wrote: 'The weeknd saying his new girl is a movie star... does he mean Angelina Jolie??? [sic]'

It would appear the pair are certainly enjoying each other’s company at the moment.

On October 25 Jolie was subtly quizzed about the singer during an interview with Justin Sylvester from E!'s Daily Pop.

When asked whether her six children are more excited by her role in her film The Eternals or her friendship with The Weeknd, the star replied: 'They're very excited about this film... If that's what you're asking.

'They're very excited about this film.'

On September 25, 2021 the pair were seen dining in a private area at the Italian restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Los Angeles, according to the Daily Mail. While the pair were seen arriving separately, they later left the eatery together in all-black ensembles.

For the night out Jolie wore a black trench coat, black sheer tights and heels, accessorised with a Saint Lauren bag, while The Weeknd wore black jeans and a black jacket with white stitching. The pair clearly weren’t hiding from the cameras given their decision to walk past the paparazzi and enter a black vehicle together.

In July, the actor and singer were photographed at dinner together at Giorgio Baldi – again – before leaving separately.

While some believed the outing to have been a date, others suggested the pair’s dinner was merely business related given The Weeknd’s growing interest in developing his acting career.

The Canadian singer is currently starring in his co-written and executive produced HBO Max series The Idol. In previous years he has also written an episode of American Dad and starred in the 2019 heist film Uncut Gems.

Who has The Weekend dated?

The Weekend has enjoyed a couple of high-profile relationships in recent years.

In 2015 the singer was linked to model Bella Hadid, before the pair split a year later. Despite rekindling their romance in 2018, the pair ended things again in 2019.

In between his relationships with Hadid the ‘Starboy’ singer dated Selena Gomez from October 2018 for approximately 10 months, prior to her brief reconciliation with Justin Bieber.

Earlier this year there were rumours The Weeknd was romantically involved with the singer Rosalía after she remixed his hit 2020 single ‘Blinding Lights’, yet neither confirmed the chatter.

Who has Angelina Jolie dated?

Jolie has also enjoyed several famous relationships over the years.

The mother-of-six has previously been married to actors Brad Pitt (2014-2019), Billy Bob Thornton (2000-2003) and Jonny Lee Miller (1996-1999).

In June 2021 Jolie visited her ex-husband Miller at his NYC apartment in Brooklyn, New York with a bottle of wine, prompting speculation the pair might be an item. E! News later reported that the exes were joined by the British actor’s son from his marriage to model Michelle Hicks, and Jolie’s child Knox.

However, it’s worth noting the pair have been friends for decades since their relationship ended. Hicks and the actor even attended the premiere of Jolie’s first directed film, In the Land of Blood and Honey, and the former couple worked together on the non-profit organisation Peace One Day.

Jolie also previously dated her Foxfire co-star Jenny Shimizu before her marriage to Miller.
