Gone are the days when the repeat wearing of an outfit was considered unthinkable; now, stars are commonly seen re-wearing previous red-carpet looks in a smart move to promote more sustainable shopping habits.

Like the Duchess of Cambridge, who re-wore her lilac Alexander McQueen gown from 2011 to this year’s Earthshot Prize, and who regularly repeats favourite pieces, or Cate Blanchett, who has recycled a red-carpet look on multiple occasions.

Angelina Jolie also knows that good fashion should be kept hold of and given a second life, which she demonstrated through an outing with her five of her six children last night.

The actress arrived at the Eternals premiere in LA with her children wearing a mixture of vintage and recycled pieces from her own wardrobe. Perhaps most notably, 16-year-old Zahara wore the metallic Elie Saab gown that her mother wore to the 2014 Oscars.

Shiloh, 15, also paid homage to her mother’s stylish aesthetic, wearing a beige dress that Jolie wore over the summer to the "Women for Bees" entrepreneurship program in France.

"My kids are all mixed with vintage, and in my old Oscars dress. We did all vintage and upcycled my old stuff," Jolie told Entertainment Tonight.

The actress herself wore a khaki Balmain gown over trousers with matching heels, as well as vintage jewellery from Tiffany & Co.

Angelina adopted Zahara, her second-eldest child, in 2005, from an orphanage in Ethiopia when she was six months old. At the time, the actress was already a mother to her adopted son Maddox who was born in Cambodia. The star then went on to adopt another son, Pax Thien, from Vietnam. She also shares three biological children with her ex-husband Brad Pitt - Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

Jolie previously told Harper’s Bazaar that she feared for her daughter growing up as a Black woman in the US. "There is racism and discrimination in America. A system that protects me but might not protect my daughter – or any other man, woman, or child in our country based on skin colour – is intolerable."
