Andrew Lloyd Webber has revealed he'd consider writing a musical about Handforth Parish council star Jackie Weaver.
Jackie Weaver went viral last week when an explosive Zoom meeting was unearthed where she was angry accused of having "no authority" - and handled the ensuing chaos with a cool, calm demeanour.
Lord Lloyd Webber posted a snippet of an original song he’d written with lyricist Don Black about Jackie Weaver on his Instagram on Tuesday (9 February), performed by West End star Carrie Hope Fletcher and with him accompanying on piano.
The song goes: "When you’re stuck in a tunnel and you can’t find your way out/Thank the lord there’s a Jackie Weaver about/Jackie is our saviour/She’ll know what to do/In the nick of time she’ll rescue you.
"Jackie Weaver, Jackie Weaver/Britain’s answer to the American Dream/Jackie Weaver, Jackie Weaver/Is the role model we all strive to be/She doesn’t want a medal/Just a nice cup of tea/Jackie Weaver, Jackie Weaver."
Lord Lloyd Webber explained on Good Morning Britain that he'd been bored at home when he came up with the idea, saying, "It's amazing how these things take off." He described the council meeting as "sort of operatic".
When asked if the idea could blossom into a musical, he referenced one of his biggest successes, Evita: "You never know, everybody said Eva Peron was a bad idea!"
His ode to Jackie was liked by the icon herself, who commented, "THIS IS TRULY AMAZING. Thank you so much".
