It's been two weeks since the glory that was the Met Ball, but here at Grazia HQ we still can't get enough of the wonderful dresses and the fabulous stories behind them. One frock that will stick in our sartorial mind for quite some time is Beyoncé's which came courtesy of Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy Couture. There was the cascading skirt of black and purple feathers, the sparkling crystal embellishments and the sheer black lace which showed off her post-baby body and that oh-so-enviable derrière (remind yourself by clicking through the gallery above). Now, thanks to Andre Leon Talley — who was Bey's date on the swanky night — we have insider information on that glorious moment when she was the final guest to swoosh onto the red carpet with moments to spare.
Appaz, according to Andre, the songstress only decided to attend the Met Ball at the very. last. minute. 'Beyoncé was not slated to come,' he says, 'she decided last minute when her dress arrived at her house'. We can see it now: Andre sewing on the feathers in the back of the limo. How we love the dramarama! In fact, the dress took 350 hours to sew, but wasn't it worth it?
‘She did arrive at 8.55 and the ball had already started but it didn’t matter because she is Beyoncé,’ ALT continued, although we can't imagine Anna Wintour was too pleased...
