Ana de Armas has opened up about her fears that nude images of her in scenes from the new Netflix film Blonde might end up circulating on the internet.

The 34-year-old actor plays Marilyn Monroe in the new movie which is out on 23 September in cinemas and available on Netflix on 28 September, but has shared her concerns that anyone who subscribes to the streaming platform will have access to clips of her naked body.

In an interview with Variety, de Armas spoke of her worries: "I know what's going to go viral, and it's disgusting."

"It's upsetting just to think about it. I can't control it; you can't really control what they do and how they take things out of context," de Armas said about her nude scenes potentially being pulled from the movie.

But despite her concerns, the actor said she doesn't have any regrets about taking on the role.

"I don't think it gave me second thoughts; it just gave me a bad taste to think about the future of those clips," she added.

Earlier in the interview, de Armas opened up about how the role had pushed her to the limits.

"I did things in this movie I would have never done for anyone else, ever," she said. "I did it for her, and I did it for Andrew [Dominik - the film's director]."

While de Armas says the potential repercussions of going nude on screen didn't make her think twice about taking the role in Blonde, other celebrities have opened up about the impact of getting naked in the name of their art.

Over the years, Emilia Clarke has spoken about the nude scenes she undertook during her role as Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, explaining that it lead to assumptions she was fine with going naked on screen.

"I've had fights on set before, where I'm like, 'No, the sheet stays up,' and they're like, 'You don't wanna disappoint your Game of Thrones fans'," Clarke said on an episode of the Armchair Expert podcast. "And I'm like, 'F**k you'."

Clarke had previously explained her desire to move away from going naked on set had impacted her decision not to do 50 Shades of Grey.

"The last time that I was naked on camera on [Game of Thrones] was a long time ago, and yet it is the only question that I ever get asked because I am a woman," she told the Hollywood Reporter.

"And it's annoying as hell, and I’m sick and tired of it, because I did it for the character. I didn’t do it so some guy could check out my tits, for God's sake."

Similarly Natalie Portman, who played a stripper in Closer and appeared nude in the short film Hotel Chevalier has spoken about her caution about strip down again for a role, because she doesn't want the images to appear all over the Internet.

"It really depressed me that half of every review on [Hotel Chevalier] was about the nudity," she told WENN in January 2010. "It made me think I shouldn't have done it."

While the actor is comfortable about nudity, she has concerns it switches the focus from her acting to her body.

"I think [nudity] is beautiful in films, and sex is such a big part of life," she added. "My issue is that I feel it takes something away from what you're doing when the focus is put on the wrong thing.

"I just don't want to do something that will end up as a screen grab on a porn site," she added.

Like de Armas, Portman has previously expressed frustration over how the nude scenes could be misused after shooting.

"I don't like the misappropriation of stuff, like, when you create something as a part of a story and then a piece of it ends up on a porn site," she told MTV. "It's meant to be a dramatic scene and part of a story. That really makes me angry. It’s inevitable and I should know what happens but…"

Downton Abbey star Jessica Brown Findlay, has also shared her regrets at appearing semi-clothed on screen. The actor had a topless scene in the film Albatross, which was released before Downton became a fan fave.

"To be honest, Albatross was naivety and not knowing that I could say no," Findlay told the Radio Times.

"I had no idea what was going to happen and thought I was going to be shot from behind. It's not something I would do again."
