It's been four years since Amy Winehouse's biopic was announced, but little has been said about the development of the project - until now that is.

Called Back to Black, named after the famed singer's breakthrough 2006 album, the film is understood to be moving forward, as per Deadline.

The news outlet revealed that the film about the Grammy-winning musician sensation, who tragically died in 2011 from alcohol poising, aged 27, is being written by Matt Greenhalgh.

Fifty Shades' Sam Taylor-Johnson is directing and Studiocanal is producing with Alison Owen and Debra Hayward, alongside Tracey Seaward.
