Stylist Karla Welch dressed Ferrera for the occasion. Greta Gerwig, Tracee Ellis Ross and Sarah Paulson are among Welch’s other A-list clients.
Hairdresser Aviva Jansen styled Ferrera’s sleek brunette bob, while makeup artist Linda Hay gave the actress winged eyeliner, rosy blush and a nude lip.
Ferrera also opted for a glittering gown last week at the Golden Globes. Her custom Dolce & Gabbana shift featured silver sequins and beaded embellishments. “Barbie” scored the ceremony’s first-ever award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. The summer blockbuster, directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie, was also awarded Best Original Song for Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” The “Barbie” soundtrack featured appearances from several major artists including Nicki Minaj, Tame Impala and Haim.
At the Critics Choice Awards, “Barbie” won multiple awards including Best Comedy, Best Production Design, Best Original Screenplay and Best Costume Design. Jaqueline Durran curated the film’s colorful costumes, digging into the Chanel archives for some of Robbie’s ensembles. Durran previously won an Oscar for her work on Gerwig’s adaptation of “Little Women,” which came out in 2019.
The Critics Choice Awards recognize the greatest film and television achievements of the year. Hosted by comedian Chelsea Handler, the 29th annual ceremony airs live on The CW on Sunday, Jan. 14. Margot Robbie will honor her “Barbie” co-star, America Ferrera, with the SeeHer Award, while James Mangold will present Harrison Ford with the Career Achievement Award.
