Amazon Prime Day was back this year, with sales surpassing more than Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined.

This year’s made-up shopping website proved more popular than ever before, as the largest global shopping event in Amazon history.

There were a record number of purchases across the retail site, with wine, beauty, personal computing and home deal categories seeing the most popularity.

Prime members purchased more than 175 million items on the Amazon website throughout the two-day-long 2019 event.

Amazon Prime Day: What you need to know

Prime Day is a global shopping event designed exclusively for Amazon Prime Members.

The first event in 2015 was introduced to commemorate the online retail giant’s 20th anniversary. It has since gone from strength to strength, growing from a one-day-only event to this year’s 48-hour-long shopping bonanza.

If previous years are anything to go by, the next Amazon Prime Day will take place in mid-July 2020.
