Amazon's best-selling electric blanket costs £35 and boasts 25,000 positive reviews

cheap electric blanket
Winter is coming and there is no better home essential than an electric heated blanket to keep you snug and warm. (Silent Night)

There’s nothing better than staying in, hunkering down and wrapping up in a blanket on the sofa. Well, there’s one thing better: swapping your go-to blanket for an electric version.

Electric blankets might seem old-fashioned (hands up who else’s grandmother used one throughout her life?), but modern versions are surprisingly smart - and safe.

They’re not all that cheap - most will ring it at around £50, which is why we were thrilled to spot that Amazon’s best-selling option is surprisingly budget-friendly.

Silentnight’s Comfort Control Double Electric Blanket is clearly a winning buy with chilly shoppers ringing in at just £35 (including free delivery) and has over 25,000 four and five star reviews from happy customers.

More affordable than most, it's available in three sizes; single, double and king size - the single bed size is currently on sale too, reduced from £60 to £30.

It’s compatible with memory foam mattresses, duvets and toppers, but isn’t made to fit the mattress from edge to edge, so do not be alarmed if it looks too small.

The electric blanket also has three heat settings to ensure you are the perfect temperature at all times. Plus, it heats up quickly so you won’t be shivering for too long.

The best quality, in our opinion, is the overheat protection feature. This means you the blanket will automatically turn off if the built-in thermal fuse detects temperatures are particularly high in certain areas.

One happy customer described it as "Perfect for winter", while another said it made them feel "warm and toasty."

Many praised its cost-effectiveness too, for allowing them to save money on expensive central heating without going cold when temperatures plummet.

One wrote that it's "very economical" while others praised it for reducing their heating bill and helping them sleep better.
