Your glutes (the muscles in your butt) are your body’s largest and most powerful muscle group. You use them for pretty much everything you do, from standing up to walking down the street.

By doing exercises that specifically target your glutes, you can make regular and athletic activities easier by increasing your endurance and power. Not to mention, strong glutes can help prevent pain in your hips and lower back and give you a perkier bum.

One of the most popular workouts for strengthening your glutes is the squat and all its variations. “Squats help with strengthening the muscles as well as toning the hamstrings and glutes,” personal trainer Sarah Rector told Byrdie. “It’s like anything: The more regularly you do squats, the more results you will see.”

However, to see results, you need to make sure you’re doing squats correctly. Like anything, nailing perfect form takes practice.

If you need some help, Amazon’s second best-selling exercise machine is the Sunny Health & Fitness Squat Assist Row-N-Ride Trainer.

More than 25,000 Amazon reviewers give this squat assist machine 5 out of 5 stars, with some saying that it’s “worth the money” and the “best piece of exercise equipment I’ve purchased.”

Here’s how it works: Place your feet on the pedals, sit your butt on the padded seat, and hold onto the handlebar while you bend your knees like you’re sitting in a chair. Then, use your glutes, legs, core and arms to pull you back upright.

The seat and handlebars are adjustable to your height, and you can adjust the seat angle as well. Squat all the way down, or if you want to go easier on your knees, adjust the seat to stop at a higher angle. There are also three resistance bands you can add to increase intensity.

You can track your progress with a small digital monitor that shows your time, squat count and calories burned. When not in use, the machine folds flat for storing away in a closet or under the sofa.

“This thing works!” wrote one Amazon reviewer. “I feel it. If you don’t feel it, it’s most likely because you don’t have your handlebars and seat adjusted properly for your height. This thing works, even without resistance straps.”

“I have been a personal trainer and have an extensive home gym,” wrote another reviewer. “This piece of equipment is not only effective, it is also well-built, and it was extremely easy to put together myself in a matter of minutes.”

If you’re spending more time on the couch and are looking for a way to strengthen your lower body at home, the Squat Assist Row-N-Ride Trainer might be it.
