Amanda Holden has been banned from school sports day by her daughter because she gets “massively competitive”.

She also revealed she spotted Oscar winner Colin Firth on a space hopper at a sports day several years ago.

The 48-year-old star said on her radio show that her 13-year-old daughter, Lexi, doesn’t want her mother to support her from the sidelines.

Holden has two daughters with her record producer Chris Hughes, whom she married in 2008.

“Lexi is a bit older and she has banned me from going to her sport's day,” said Holden.

"It's on Friday but she isn't interested in anything parental."

Asked by her Heart Breakfast co-host Jamie Theakston if her competitiveness played a part in the ban, Holden loudly agreed and admitted she is “massively competitive”.

She did, however, add that younger daughter Hollie, aged seven, still likes to see her come along.

The Britain’s Got Talent host said she had spent some of her morning to prepare for Hollie’s sports day, which is forecast to take place in the midst of a rainy afternoon.

She said: “I've had all the mums on my Whatsapp group last night, most of us asking who has packed the wine. It's terrible isn't it?

"I've got a double flask and I filled it with wine and ice this morning before I left.

"I was popping a wine bottle at 5am this morning.”

Holden also revealed that Colin Firth sends his children to the same school as her older daughter and that they crossed paths at a sports day.

She said: “When Lexi was in year four I saw Colin Firth on a space hopper in the dad race.

"We were all told we weren't allowed to get our phones out. Can you imagine?”

Those parents were certainly restrained. An Oscar winner on a space hopper isn’t something you see every day.
