Amanda Holden has announced the release date for her debut album. Songs from my Heart will arrive on 2 October and is made up of songs from musical theatre, each carrying personal weight and meaning with the star.
It includes her debut single Over the Rainbow which was released in May, as a charity single to raise funds for the Covid19 crisis. It reached number two in the official charts and number one on iTunes, giving an insight into what we can expect from the rest of the album.
The record is packed with musical theatre classics including ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ (Les Miserables), ‘Not While I’m Around’ (Sweeney Todd), ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’ (Evita), ‘I Know Him So Well’ with Sheridan Smith (Chess) and the second single to be released from the album, ‘With You’(Ghost), which is out now.
Of her debut album, Amanda said in the release; "People think they know who I am because they see me being loud and outrageous on the television or radio. That is a part of me but really I’m all about my family. This album is all the songs I’ve loved in my life, sung for the people who mean the most to me. It’s a very emotional album that everyone can relate to.
"I had a tape recorder as a little girl and would sing into it dreaming of this moment. There is a story behind every song on the album, celebrating life, love and loss - the darkest and happiest moments in my life so far. It is literally my heart laid bare."
Amanda's got plenty of singing experience on stage, receiving an Olivier Award nomination for her debut West End role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Performing as Princess Fiona in Shrek, The Musical and producing and starring in Stepping Out.
And now branching out as a recording artist, we're sure she's going to bring a lot of joy into peoples homes.
Songs From My Heart is to be released via Universal Records on 2 October, with Amanda performing live on Britain’s Got Talent on 3 October, and is available to pre-order now.
