Amanda Holden and her co-star Jamie Theakston had different views when discussing Princess Kate's apparent fashion U-turn this morning.

According to a source, Kensington Palace will no longer share details about Kate's outfits from royal engagements, in a bid to redirect attention onto her charitable endeavours.

They told The Times: "She wants the focus to be on the really important issues, the people and the causes she is spotlighting.

"There will always be an appreciation of what the princess is wearing from some of the public and she gets that.

"But do we need to be officially always saying what she is wearing? No. The style is there but it’s about the substance."

Discussing the update on Wednesday's Heart Radio show, Amanda, 53, said while she understood the change, she believes people will still work out where the clothes are from.

Chiming in, Jamie bluntly asked: "Do people care?".

"Of course they care," Amanda hit back. "Oh my gosh, she's absolutely right, people care way too much about what you're wearing when you're trying to do other stuff.

"But people will still lean [towards] where they're from and still write about it, but I love that she's making a stand.

"I feel sad for the fashion brands though," she added with a chuckle.

"I wouldn't feel too sorry for them if I were you," Jamie replied, still seemingly unenthused by the update.

The reported fashion shift breaks a long-running tradition from Kensington Palace, who has routinely made the Princess’ outfit details public.

However, it's likely fashionistas will still be able to pinpoint where items are from themselves.

The update comes shortly after Kate announced she is in remission from cancer.

In a message posted on social media, she wrote: "As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.

"I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead."

The mother-of-three announced her diagnosis last March and revealed she had completed her chemotherapy in September.

As part of a statement, she said she was doing what she could to "stay cancer-free".
