Allison Holker is getting her family ready for a new school year.
The professional dancer, 36, tells PEOPLE about how she's teaming up with Shipt to get a good start on the school year with her three kids — Zaia, 4, Maddox, 8, and Weslie, 16.
"The back story is I don't have any family that lives in Los Angeles. That makes it really hard because I can't just call on grandparents or a cousin or aunt or uncle to watch the kids. I can't call on a cousin or brother or sister, even though like we're all extremely close and we communicate like I just don't have that option," she explains.
"I have the most incredible nannies, who are part of my village. I've got two incredible assistants that I don't know how I would survive every day. I get reminders and updates from the moment I wake up from them, because they're so good at their jobs. My village is an incredibly talented skillful group of women," she continues. "We found a really healthy balance of it because they're my team, but also they're my family sometimes, and they're also my friends sometimes. We're good at separating the three. We love and like each other and do great work together. I'm grateful for my two nannies and two assistants who are wrangling this chaos with me."
Holker's getting her kids back into the "rhythm" of the school year with the help of Shipt.
"When Shipt reached out, it felt right. I'm such a busy mom, especially being a single mom. I'm always on the go with my kids and their activities. I work constantly so when I saw what their platform stands for, I realized it could truly make our lives easier. I'm always looking for ways that help my family be most efficient. For me, it makes so much sense that Shipt helps me focus on having fun with my kids and spending my time with them while they take care of the fresh foods and beauty and wellness and office and school supplies."

For Holker's family, the back-to-school season is an "exciting and wild one."
The dancer is prepared for the twists and turns, sharing, "I've already got everything done. I ordered everything — all the notebooks, the lunch pails, the backpacks. I've got all the snacks. We still have a few weeks until we start here, but in L.A., if you aren't buying your school supplies months in advance, everything is always sold out. Shipt helped me get orders in with Target and CVS and I got everything that I needed easily."
In the lead-up to the first day, the mom of three is busy "making sure that my kids are getting back into it."
"It looks crazy right now because what I've been working on is getting them back into waking up in the mornings, making sure they're getting dressed and are able to help me make lunches. My older daughter has already started her summer reading. I can't believe she already has homework and it's still the summer. It's been a good time for us to prep, and it's important because this summer went by really, really quickly."
Balancing everything going on with her kids is "chaotic, but really fun" for the dancing mom.
"My oldest, she's 16. She volunteers at her school and is like a camp counselor. It's the cutest thing ever and all the kids absolutely adore her because she's so good with kids," the proud mom shares.
"My son Maddox, he's only 8, but he's on AAU basketball team, where it starts like being very, very competitive. So I'm a basketball mommy now, and I have so much to learn about his skills," she continues.
"He’s starting on a traveling team, this next year, which is absolutely insane. I've never been a part of this but I know, like I was like a dancer and I had to travel all the time. So I'm trying to brace myself and get ready for it, but he's in basketball and he's absolutely obsessed. He's really good."
Last but not least, Zaia is already a gymnast but getting ready to add a new talent to her days.
"This fall when school starts, she's gonna start in dance," the proud mom reveals.
"I'm really excited for her. It'll be fun. Also, I haven't signed her up quite yet for it, but I think I'm also going to put her in acting lessons because this girl is spicy," Holker says with a laugh. "All of my kids have personality but she is like the spice on everyone. She owns this house for sure."
The multi-talented family is busy, but Holker says their ability to work together keeps them going.
"I will say I think what I do a really good job at as a mom is I make my kids participate. I always say to my kids, 'In order for this to work, we all have to work together,' " Holker notes.
"That's why I've been trying to start them getting back up in the mornings on like a regular rhythm so then when school hits, it's not like I'm struggling to get them out of bed. I'm having them already help me make their lunches just so they get back into that pattern."
Shipt is helping families get back into their back-to-school patterns, offering $10 off orders with promo code BACKTOSCHOOL for all Shipt customers through Aug. 31. Target Circle 360 members can also get $10 off orders of $75 or more at select retailers from Aug. 11 to Aug. 17.
