Congrats are in order - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is engaged to longtime partner Riley Roberts. On May 19, the New York Congresswoman confirmed the exciting news by replying to a tweet about the engagement. "It's true! Thank you all for the well wishes," she wrote.

Ocasio-Cortez told Business Insider that the two got engaged in April in her family's hometown of Puerto Rico. "No future details yet, we're taking some space to savor this time before diving into planning," she added. While replying to a comment on Twitter, she also joked that her engagement ring is "zero emission and recycled gold."

Ocasio-Cortez first met the marketing professional when they were undergraduates at Boston University in 2011. Apparently, their friends didn't know they were dating until after they all graduated. They briefly broke up after finishing school, but they later rekindled their romance in New York.

Even though they've been together for several years, the couple prefers to keep their relationship out of the spotlight. Their last public appearance together was at the 2021 Met Gala, where Ocasio-Cortez made a major statement in a white custom dress by Aurora James.
