If you're feeling let down by the weather, or have woken up on the wrong side of the bed, we challenge anyone to still feel grumpy after hearing Alexander Armstrong's Royal recollection on The One Show.

The clip was posted on the show's Instagram on Wednesday (19 May) and we can't get enough of it. Alexander has played Pointless with the Queen... and she was brilliant at it!

He spoke about the story at the time, but for those of you who missed it...

Where, we hear you ask, did this occur? Well, at a WI meeting... where else?

After being questioned about the story Alexander confirmed it was true and explained: "I went to give a talk up at the Sandringham WI and the president of the Sandringham WI just happens to be the Queen."

Alex Jones, hiding none of her surprise, exclaimed: "And she was there!?" To which Alexander cheekily replied: "Yeah she's not going to miss a talk from the Pointless man!"

He went on to say how he and Richard Osman have a portable version of the game, with a modified structure, and that they treated the Sandringham WI, of which Her Majesty has been a member since 1943, to a game. Topics included birds and naval ships, and he said the Queen; "Absolutely aced it."

The presenters asked if she won the trophy and Alexander revealed he gave Her Majesty his special 1000th edition trophy.

We're sure it looks spectacular on the mantlepiece at Sandringham.

Speaking to reporters after the event back in 2019, Armstrong said the monarch displayed: "some deft, silky Pointless skills".

So it sounds like that trophy was well-deserved.
