ALEXACHUNG partners with Barbour to design collection ahead of festival season

Alexa Chung has partnered with Barbour to design a collection for the British heritage brand just in time for festival season.

The TV presenter-turned-fashion designer has created seven jackets, three tote bags and one bucket hat, all of which will be released in early June.

Chung, who runs her own eponymous label, has been an avid supporter of Barbour for some time, having worn the label’s signature bottle green jackets with aplomb at several Glastonbury Festivals over the years.

The It author revealed she relished in the opportunity to delve into the 125-year-old brand’s archive to find inspiration for her collection.

“Some of my happiest memories have unfolded in a Barbour,” the 35-year-old said of the partnership, which is a collaboration between the label and her own brand, ALEXACHUNG.

“The smell of the wax alone makes me feel like I’m home. For me Barbour has been part of my childhood, my coming of age and I am extraordinarily proud that it is now part of my future.”

In a statement, Barbour revealed the collection would explore “tradition, craftsmanship, modernity and character to create a collection that is both timeless and energised”, adding that the brand’s aesthetic would be reimagined through an “Alexa Chung lens”.

Paul Wilkinson, global marketing and commercial director at Barbour, added: “We are delighted to be working with Alexa Chung on this exciting collaboration.

“It combines Barbour’s classic tradition with the fashion, style and wit of the Alexa Chung brand to create a very special collection that is practical, alluring and fun to wear, designed for festivals and a life outdoors.”

The collection will be priced from £229 to £429 and will be socked on Barbour.com and Alexachung.com, as well as select retail partners (Net-a-porter, Selfridges, Liberty).
