When it comes to finding an outfit that is both flattering and timeless, you can't go wrong with a classic trouser suit. Black, navy and neutrals might be the safer colour option, but the recent trend for bold and brighter shades isn't going anywhere, as Alex Jones has just reminded us.

The TV star shared her outfit choice on Instagram after presenting The One Show on Monday (6 March) evening. In the caption, she described her vibrant red blazer and matching trousers as an "80's power suit" and revealed that her two-piece was from high-street favourite, Zara.

The Double-Breasted Buttoned Blazer has an oversized look and is available at Zara online for £89.99. The High-Waist Trousers With Pockets are a straight-leg style and are in stock online for £49.99.

Alex paired her Zara suit with a Breton stripe top and black heels, although this style would look equally good dressed down with a t-shirt and a pair of trainers. Even better, this type of classic trouser suit is versatile and can also be worn as separates – wear the jacket with jeans or try the trousers with a cosy sweater.
