Alex Jones has thanked fans for their kindness as she spoke candidly about going through a "tricky" and "challenging" time of late.

The 45-year-old One Show presenter has been absent from social media for just over a month and revealed that when she had logged back on, she was greeted with "lovely messages" from fans and friends asking if she and her family were OK.

Posting a portrait of a lemon to illustrate the proverbial phrase, 'when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,' she shared the message: "Things have been a bit tricky for us recently and in all honesty, I haven't had time to be on here between working and the children but I randomly logged on and saw all your lovely messages gently asking if we were all ok.

"I was touched by your kindness and so I just wanted to check in and say thank you, and that even though life has been a bit challenging, we are ok and still managing to enjoy the beginning of the holidays and there's still plenty to smile about! (I’ll pop some stuff on my stories). #whenlifegivesyoulemons #thekindnessofstrangers."

Celebrity friends and followers sent messages of love and support to Alex, with GMB's Charlotte Hawkins commenting: "Hope all is OK, sending love."

A fan relating to the challenges of working and being a mum added: "Never apologise Alex, for being a working mum/wife/having a life outside of the public eye. I came off of all Social media, except IG, because too many people had expectations about when I did and didn't post! Problem solved."

Alex and husband Charlie are parents to sons Teddy and Kit, and baby daughter Annie. The TV star had taken four months from The One Show on maternity leave after welcoming Annie in August last year, but she returned to her permanent role earlier this year.

Alex is known for sharing sweet photos and videos of her family life on social media, and most recently celebrated Kit's third birthday with a post of her little boy posing with a giant giraffe and a balloon in their London home.

Sending lots of love to you, Alex.
