Alert the Diet Police: Gluten-Free Gisele Wore a Bread Hat

For a woman who’s strictly gluten-free, Gisele Bündchen is getting awfully close to bread. The model is featured in Loewe’s new fall 2017 campaign wearing a hat plastered with an image of a loaf. No, the bread doesn’t even look gluten-free or even seven-grain. It’s — gasp — white bread.

The Spanish luxury label launched its latest campaign featuring the 36-year-old mother in advance of its March 3 women’s ready-to-wear Paris show. Photos, including 3,000 fly posters at 500 news kiosks in the city, started going up across Paris on Wednesday, according to WWD.

And while the Brazilian and the clothes are mesmerizing in the images — in one, Bündchen wears a short patterned long-sleeve dress and tall boots, standing in front of photographer Steven Meisel’s black “cloud,” which is basically just a structure built from more than 9,000 silk ribbons, according to InStyle — there’s one element that simply can’t be ignored: the floppy hat on her head. In one image, the cream wide-brim falls to her face, perfectly framing her high cheekbones, the sliced-bread brand with the label Loewe in red coming awfully close to her mouth.

However, the “retired” supermodel would never actually think of eating that. Bündchen and husband Tom Brady’s diet is 80 percent vegetables. “If it’s not organic, I don’t use it,” their chef said last month. And they only eat whole grains: brown rice, quinoa, millet, and beans. “No white sugar. No white flour,” he said. They don’t even eat strawberries. There goes the white bread.

That didn’t stop her from wearing the hat and letting it slide down her face as if it were about to swallow her whole.

Consider this the closest Bündchen will ever get to the feared carb.
