Budget supermarket Aldi has launched a new range of refillable cleaning bottles in a bid to save an estimated 550 tonnes of single-use plastic a year — and prices start from just 99p.

Landing in stores and online from Thursday 24th September, the six bottles of Power Force cleaning spray include window, shower, kitchen and bathroom concentrates which can be mixed with water.

Each bottle of concentrate can create up to four bottles of cleaning spray, helping to reduce the need for households to repurchase single-use spray bottles.

'At Aldi we're always looking at new ways to reduce waste and especially to remove and replace any unnecessary, single-use plastic,' says Luke Peech, Managing Director of Corporate Responsibility at Aldi UK and Ireland.

'Our new concentrated refills will do just that. And, even if only half of our customers opt for them, it will take more than 250 lorries off our roads every year.'

As well as this, Aldi will also be launching a reusable Power Force bottle, costing just 99p. Both the bottle and concentrate refill bottles are fully recyclable, helping everyone to cut back on waste with ease.

Aldi has also explained it is on track to have all own-label packaging recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2022, and aims to halve the amount of plastic packaging it sells by 2025.
