Strictly Come Dancing finalist AJ Odudu broke down in tears last night when she revealed her place in the competition is at risk over a "repeated traumatic impact injury" to her ankle. Speaking on BBC's It Takes Two, the TV presenter revealed she's unable to walk without crutches and has been "projectile vomiting" from the pain.

"I'm upset because I've suffered an injury, I don't know when it happened," the 33-year-old explained. "But essentially, I've got issues with my joint, I've suffered some traumatic injury to my ligaments, there's a lot of inflammation."

AJ continued: "I can't pinpoint when it happened during training, in fact, we felt really positive after training on Monday. I felt fine but the pain came on so suddenly and acutely that I actually projectile vomited."

Speaking about how the injury might impact her ability to perform in Saturday night's final, she said "I'm upset as we were so excited... we've got three amazing dances that we really want to perform."

"I know I'm getting upset but I am genuinely remaining hopeful," she added. "I'm surrounded by a really great medical team who are trying their best to get me back on my feet and of course I've got Kai [Widdrington, her professional dance partner], who is really holding me together."

Over on her Instagram, AJ shared the heartbreaking news with her 197k followers. In an emotional post, the TV presenter said: "The pain was so acute that I projectile vomited and currently I can't put any weight on my right foot without agonising discomfort. Because I'm unable to move without crutches, we haven't been nor will be able to rehearse properly ahead of the live final. To say I'm devastated would be a huge understatement and I am gutted."

In the comments section, friends and followers shared their messages of support for the 33-year-old. "Oh babe this happened to me!! It’s so sh*t but sending you positive energy and your mindset is so powerful it can help so much. Sending love," said Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore, with another person commenting: "My Iove! Sending you so much healing energy."

AJ is due to compete in the Strictly Come Dancing live final this Saturday night at 7pm alongside Eastenders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis and celebrity chef John Whaite.
