AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of Bristol City defender Lloyd Kelly from Championship side Bristol City.

20 year old Kelly has joined the Premier League side for a fee believed to be around £13 million. The England Under 21 international had been linked with a move to Liverpool before joining the Cherries.

Kelly is a product of the Bristol City academy and made his debut for the club as a substitute in a thrashing over Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Cup in August 2017.

The youngster explained his delight at joining Eddie Howe’s side, telling the club website: "The move has come around quite quickly, but I'm happy to be here and can't wait to start playing,"

"Premier League football is what I've always wanted to achieve. I want to play as many games as possible and I feel like this is the right place for me to try and do that."

Bournemouth manager Howe feels there is plenty more to come from the Bristol-born defender.

"Lloyd is an exciting talent and a player of real potential, while at the same time already possessing good experience for someone so young," Howe said.

"He is athletic, versatile, physically excellent and has a very bright future ahead of him.

"I am delighted that we have been able to strike so early in the summer and look forward to working with Lloyd during the coming seasons."

Kelly played 34 games in all competitions for Bristol City this season.
