Adele has celebrated what would have been Notting Hill Carnival over the Bank Holiday weekend by posting a picture of herself in a Jamaican print bikini and bright yellow feathers on Instagram.

The 32-year-old singer also styled her hair into Bantu knots as she posed in her garden in Beverley Hills, adding the caption to her photo: "Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London."

Fans and fellow celebrities were enjoying Adele's cultural appreciation post, with Hollywood star Zoe Saldana commenting: "You look right at home guurrrl."

Chelsea Handler added: "Oh yeah baby!"

Notting Hill Carnival, the annual celebration of Caribbean culture, was cancelled for the first time in its 54-year history due to Covid-19. Organisers have been hosting a three-day digital equivalent that kicked off with a live countdown on the big screen at Piccadilly Circus.

Meanwhile, Adele has been opening up about the changes she has made to her life in recent months, including finding "joy, happiness and freedom" after reading a book that made her "soul scream" and her "brain shake".

The singer recently explained on Instagram how self-help book Glennon Doyle's Untamed: Stop Pleasing, Start Living has been impactful on her mental state.

"If you're ready – this book will shake your brain and make your soul scream," she wrote. "I am so ready for myself after reading this book! It’s as if I just flew into my body for the very first time. Whew! Anyone who has any kind of capacity to truly let go and give into yourself with any kind of desire to hold on for dear life - Do it. Read it. Live it. Practice it."

The star also shared her love and appreciation for Beyoncé's Black Is King by matching the superstar with her own Marine Serre look, featuring the iconic crescent moon-print.
