British singer Adele has split from her husband Simon Konecki after three years of marriage.
The couple, who had been dating since 2011, have a son named Angelo. They released a statement via representatives which read: “Adele and her partner have separated.
“They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”
Adele is known for enjoying her privacy and her relationship or marriage with Konecki was never publicised. The singer rarely made public reference to her husband, who is a charity entrepreneur.
One of the few times she mentioned having a husband was during a Grammy acceptance speech in 2017. She said on stage: “Grammys, I appreciate it. The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband and my son, you’re the only reason I do it.”
The couple, who married in 2016 after dating for around five years, had been living in the US, but it is believed Tottenham-born Adele plans to relocate to London following the split to be closer to her mother. It is thought she is also keen for her 6-year-old son to be educated in Britain.
In 2018 it was revealed the Someone Like You singer made a whopping £142m in just one world tour, cementing her place as one of Britain’s richest musicians .
The couple are now expected to be heading toward a costly divorce. Konecki is supposedly entitled to half of Adele’s fortune, made from a mixture of huge world tours, and massively popular albums such as 19, 21, and 25. The number on each of her three albums denotes the age she was when she wrote the songs.
It is believed Adele is currently working on a new album, after she was spotted entering a New York recording studio back in March.
The timing could well be important, as heartbreak is known as the best kind of inspiration for writing great pop songs.
