Adele credits gruelling gym sessions with helping her to combat anxiety

Adele has credited working out with helping her to overcome stress and anxiety.

The Hello hitmaker first showcased her incredible transformation in a social media post to mark her 32nd birthday in May 2020, and has again shown off her figure in a new fashion editorial for the November 2021 issue of U.S. Vogue magazine.

Reflecting on her weight loss, Adele revealed that she started going to the gym to help her find a sense of calm amid her divorce from Simon Konecki in 2019 and various career commitments.

"(The gym) became my time. I realised that when I was working out, I didn't have any anxiety. It was never about losing weight. I thought, If I can make my body physically strong, and I can feel that and see that, then maybe one day I can make my emotions and my mind physically strong."

Adele and her trainer, Gregg Miele, have been working on strength training and movement during their sessions.

And while the star noted that most of her fans reacted positively to her new look, she was shocked by some of the feedback online.

"My body's been objectified my entire career. It's not just now. I understand why it's a shock. I understand why some women especially were hurt. Visually I represented a lot of women. But I'm still the same person," the 33-year-old insisted. "The most brutal conversations were being had by other women about my body. I was very f**king disappointed with that. That hurt my feelings."
