Adam 22: Suspect arrested after 'attempted robbery' of host during livestream of 'No Jumper' podcast

Police in Los Angeles have confirmed they are investigating an alleged attempted robbery, after a popular YouTube host had a prop gun pushed in his face while livestreaming his show.

Adam Grandmaison, better known as Adam22, was recording his hip-hop podcast “No Jumper” on Sunday night, when a man approached the 35-year-old and threatened him with what appeared to be a weapon.

“Give me all your f*****g money,” the person can be heard to say, as Grandmaison pushes the gun away and initially laughs, apparently unsure if the person was serious or part of a prank.

“The suspect approached the victim a with a gun, while a livestream was in process,” a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department, told The Independent.

“The suspect was taken to the ground and the police department was called. The suspect was treated and then booked for attempted robbery.”

The spokesperson said the item police recovered at the scene was a prop gun, rather than a genuine weapon.

Vice, which was first to report the incident, said Grandmaison’s podcast had been credited for launching the careers of many artists, including XXXTentacion and Lil Yachty.

On Monday, he insisted to TMZ that the incident, that took place at the YouTuber’s bike shop and office on Melrose Avenue, was not a stunt.

He said the alleged perpetrator came close to being shot, as a member of his team had drawn a gun and aimed at the assailant after the YouTube star was threatened.

“That’s the thing I’m thankful [about],” he said. “…This guy didn’t get killed ‘cause it was really, really close to happening.”
