Ally Maki is offering a peek at her baby daughter's nursery.

The Big Door Prize actress, 37, worked with Babyletto to design her dream nursery for her little girl Charlie Rei, whom she welcomed this past summer. Maki, who stars in Pixar's Dream Productions which premieres Wednesday, Dec. 11, shared exclusive photos with PEOPLE and spoke about her inspiration for her daughter's space.

"Creating her nursery felt like designing her first story — I wanted it to evoke a sense of warmth and whimsy, with pieces like the Yuzu Crib that can grow and evolve as her personality blossoms," Maki tells Babyletto.

As for her inspiration for the nursery, the star thought of a special place from her own childhood to recreate.

"My grandmother's garden was the most magical place, where my imagination ran wild," Maki says. "I wanted her nursery to feel like stepping into that garden, a space where all her adventures — big or small — could take place. The soft green walls feel connected to nature, yet sophisticated."

There were also a few sentimental pieces that Maki wanted to make sure were included in the space.

"One of the most special pieces in the room is a vintage Humpty Dumpty doll that was mine as a little girl," Maki explains. "Seeing it now in her space feels like a bridge between my childhood and hers."

As she's settled into parenthood, the newly minted mom says that she's learned a few important lessons as she's cared for Charlie.

"Motherhood has been a lesson in embracing imperfection," she shares. "I've learned to focus less on doing everything 'right' and more on being present. I'm finding so much beauty in slowing down."

In August, Maki welcomed her first baby with fiancé Travis Atreo. She shared the exciting news in an Instagram post. "Charlie Rei 🎀 Our sweetest baby girl has forever changed our lives," the proud new mom wrote under a photo of the couple holding onto their daughter's tiny finger.

"She was born to her daddy’s music with the gentlest little personality and a full head of hair," she continued in the caption. "There’s not enough words to capture our love for her. Our beautiful little baby owl, we love you beyond the stars."
