Achieving A Crispy Steak Crust Is Way Easier Than You Think

The world of steak is vast. And it's no wonder - there are a bunch of different cuts as well as different cooking methods. But if there's one thing that's pretty much the same across the board, it's how to nail the perfect steak crust.

And thanks to @chefcuso on TikTok, we've just discovered that you can achieve delicious steak crispiness (whatever the cut) with just a few simple tips and tricks.

So, without further ado... here's what @chefcuso recommends.

Tip #1 use LOTS of salt. Yep, this isn't for those of you trying to cut back on salt in the new year. If you want optimum crispiness on those steak edges, you need to season your meat with plenty of salt so that it takes the moisture out of the steak. That way, the caramelisation from the salt will help build the crust.

Tip #2 cook your steak in a hot pan. More often than not, people don't heat their pan up enough. You want your steak to SIZZLE.

Tip #3 try giving a thicker steak a go, so that it doesn't overcook when you're searing. A good crust is built on the basis of heat. And chances are, the thinner the steak, the higher the risk of overcooking.
