Abigail Breslin didn't hold back when a follower called her "pathetic" for wearing a face mask in public. The insult comes almost one year after the actress's 78-year-old father. Michael Breslin, died from COVID-19.

On Monday, the "Little Miss Sunshine" star took to Instagram to share a photo of herself enjoying a rollercoaster ride in Las Vegas. While there are four other people in the photo with her, Breslin is the only one wearing a mask.

Breslin's decision to wear a face covering in public, while the other people pictured in the photo opted to go without, sparked criticism from some of her followers.

"I just find it hypocritical to wear masks while no one is wearing one in a crowded place," one person commented. "If you are so scared, stay at home."

"There is literally no way on a rollercoaster the mask would have stayed seal tight, and you have nightclub photos and party photos unmasked," another added.

"Who’s the pathetic loser wearing a mask?" someone else wrote, prompting a reply from the 25-year-old actress.

"That pathetic loser would be me, someone who lost their dad due to someone not wearing a mask and giving him COVID," Breslin wrote. "You can kindly go f—k off now."

Breslin later shared a follow-up post, explaining that the people in the photo with her only took their masks off for the photo, while she opted to keep hers on.

"We took ours off for one photo," she wrote. "Everyone present was vaccinated as well as being tested beforehand. I was calling someone out for telling me my father was 'weak' because he passed away from COVID-19 and said I was a 'pathetic loser' for wearing my mask on a public ride with strangers. I wear my mask always around others except for friends I know are vaccinated and have been tested beforehand."

Fans quickly rallied behind Breslin, praising her for wearing a mask and standing her ground.

"Go off, queen!" one person commented. "You’re prioritizing safety, while others aren’t taking it seriously."

"2022 is the year of holding people accountable," another said. "Thanks for not hiding this person’s username."

"I’m so so sorry you had to go through this," one fan wrote. "People can be so insensitive. I mean, I’m vaccinated but I still wear my mask everywhere!"

"You have full support standing up to idiots like him, Abigail," another said. "That guy doesn't deserve respect for not taking COVID seriously. And your father would be proud of you that you are being strong and not letting people bring you down."
