ABBA unveil comeback details after nearly 40 years away

ABBA are making their grand return to music this autumn with a 10-track new album and virtual concert.

Titled Voyage, this'll be their first studio album since 1981's The Visitors – which featured classic song 'One of Us' – and officially hits the market on November 5.

The group have also shared two new tracks from the record, 'I Still Have Faith in You' and 'Don't Shut Me Down'.

There's going to be some serious '70s disco vibes this Christmas, that's for sure.

Meanwhile, the virtual concert will take place in a custom-built arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, starting in May 2022 and running seven shows a week. The band will be represented as digital versions of themselves using the latest motion capture technology to depict them as they were in 1979.

Tickets will go on general sale to the public at 10am on Tuesday, September 7 on Ticketmaster.

Discussing one of the legendary band's new ballads 'I Still Have Faith in You', member Bjorn Ulvaeus shared (via BBC): "When Benny [Andersson] played the melody, I just knew it had to be about us. It's about realising that it's inconceivable to be where we are.

"No imagination could dream up that, to release an album after 40 years and still be the best of friends, and still be enjoying each other's company, and have a total loyalty. Who has experienced that? Nobody."

'Don't Shut Me Down' is another track from Voyage, which depicts the return of a lover years after she walks away.

Benny also teased "a little Christmas tune" alongside "a number of pop songs", before adding of the new album: "I think it's pretty good. We've done as good as we could, at our age."

Meanwhile, during an appearance on The One Show this week, the Swedish musicians recalled the genesis of producing their first album in nearly 40 years.

Benny explained: "It started with asking [Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad] if they wanted to come in and sing a couple of songs because we have this concert taking place next year here in London and they said yes.

"From that moment, I'd say, everything became bright. I was thinking just before they came to the studio – I haven't asked them if they still can sing."

Chipping in, Bjorn elaborated: "That moment when the two of them sang together... and that unique sound that only they can produce came out and the four of us still being able to work together because we wanted to."
