If you struggle to maintain a high level of energy throughout the day, and are constantly relying on coffee to get you through it, then you might want to try this 90-second shower trick. Experts believe that this hack can help to heighten your energy and keep you awake all day.

So instead of simply taking a hot shower first thing in the morning – which can actually be known to relax you rather than wake you up – blast yourself with cold water for 30 seconds, then with hot water for 30 seconds and switch to freezing water for a final 30 seconds. This should be done after your regular cleaning routine, ensuring you end on ice-cold water.

The rapid change in temperature will open up the capillaries, increase blood flow and provide a sense of stimulation to help energise your mind and body.

It's a trick that Victoria Beckham reportedly uses daily. And since she manages to run a fashion empire on top of looking after four children and undertaking numerous charitable pursuits, she is definitely someone whose stamina we would like to emulate.

The technique is also thought to have a number of other health benefits, reports Entrepreneur. The shower trick is supposed to help reduce stress (by building up your tolerance), improve your immune system (by increasing the number of disease-fighting white blood cells) and help burn fat (by the creation of more brown fat cells), so it's definitely worth a try, no matter how daunting that 90 seconds may seem first thing in the morning.
