As the founders of their own clothing brand, Favorite Daughter, we think it’s fair to say that American actresses Erin Foster and Sara Foster know a thing or two about good style. For this reason, a list of their favorite clothing items—shirts, pants or shoes—would be a welcome piece of literature for us to peruse. In trying to build our own capsule wardrobes, having a list of inspiration can never hurt, after all.
So, we were absolutely overjoyed to see that the pair offered us exactly that in a recent interview with InStyle. In a conversation that included a discussion of their company, its beginnings and their own personal styles, the duo divulged the must-have shoes that they just can’t live without. In an effort to make any future shoe purchases easier on your end, we have jotted down their lists—and our accompanying picks—below.
Sara Foster’s go-to shoes
Sara’s list was relatively simple. She wears just four shoes over and over, no matter the season. Though not in the everyday rotation, she had to give a shout-out to her motorcycle boots, too.
White Birkenstocks
Birkenstock Women’s Arizona Soft Footbed - Leather, $105.95-$110.00 (amazon.com)
No matter the season, you can always depend on a pair of Birkenstocks. With a durable design, these shoes are sure to last you for years (we’re pretty sure we still have ours from middle school).
Gray New Balance tennis shoes
New Balance Women’s 574 Core Trainers, $89.99 (amazon.com)
More commonly known as “dad shoes,” these timeless shoes have come back in vogue in recent years. With their versatility and comfort, we totally get why.
Platform Uggs
UGG Classic Mini Platform Women’s Boot, $169.95 to $170.00 (amazon.com)
Another childhood favorite turned adulthood must-have, these platform UGGs are the perfect shoe to snag for the cold months.
CoRNETTi sandals
Freya CoRNETTi Sandals, $182 (revolve.com)
It’s no longer summer, but snag these gold wrap sandals and pretend like it is—we won’t judge. In all seriousness, these are the perfect pick for your next vacation adventure. Get them while they’re on sale.
The Row platform motorcycle boots
The Row Zippered Platform Leather Combat Boots, $1,490 (saksfifthavenue.com)
These are more than a little bit of a splurge. But, according to Sara, they’re worth it. If you’re on the market for a luxury pair of boots, this zip-up pair might just be the ticket.
Erin Foster’s go-to shoes
Erin’s picks were likewise concise. A mix of high-fashion and not, the list contains some gems, as follows.
Rag and Bone boots
rag & bone Shiloh Lug-Sole Leather Chelsea Boots, $550 (saksfifthavenue.com)
While Erin didn’t specify a brand, you really can’t go wrong where rag & bone is concerned. Also a splurge, or a worthwhile investment depending on how you spin it.
Navy Converse high tops
Converse Chuck Taylor, $51.02 to $88.00 (amazon.com)
We know we keep saying it, but these ones really are a classic. You simply can’t beat a pair of high top Chuck Taylors. And we absolutely love where Foster’s head was at with the navy color choice.
Nike Air Max sneakers
Nike Women’s Air Max, $59 to $435 (amazon.com)
Perfect for those of you on the market for white sneakers. And, for those of you who aren’t, there are tons of other colors to choose from. Either way, you have to get a pair of these classic Air Max shoes.
Larroudé brown suede pointed-toe boots
Larroudé Women’s Kate Over-the-Knee High Heel Boots, $485 (bloomingdales.com)
These gorgeous brown suede boots could be the perfect way to incorporate the cult favorite chocolate brown tone into your wardrobe this winter. But, if they’re a little out of your price range, simply use them as an inspiration for your next boot purchase—they’re a classic.
