When Nina Agdal made her rookie appearance in the SI Swimsuit Issue in 2012, her photoshoot in Seychelles made such an impression that she earned Rookie of the Year honors. The following year, she double-dipped for two magazine features, including a bodypaint spread in the Bahamas.

Agdal appeared in each SI Swimsuit Issue through 2017, when she traveled to Mexico with the brand. Her work with the publication included trips to Australia, the Cook Islands (when she landed the 2014 cover alongside Chrissy Teigen and Lily Aldridge for the 50th anniversary issue), Zanzibar and more.

Today, Agdal continues to model and is focused on building her fitness empire. Her app, The Agdal Method, provides workout and wellness content for users that incorporates mindful movement and nutrition. Earlier this year, the 31-year-old Danish model reflected on her time with SI Swimsuit, noting that working with the brand had an incredible influence on her career.

“Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and MJ Day [editor in chief] were the ones to put my name on the map and that helped me pursue my modeling career in a way that wouldn’t have been possible without them,” she stated. “Some of my best memories are from the early, early mornings and shoot days with the SI crew.”

Today, we’re throwing it back to a few of our favorite looks from Agdal’s most recent brand feature, which took place in Mexico, and featured the model in front of Ruven Afanador’s lens.
