9 Instagram Outfits I Plan on Copying This Month

·4-min read

Dressing for autumn is one of our favourite sartorial endeavours. Cosy knitwear, leather separates and chic boots are things we've been looking forward to wearing for the past few months. So now that October is upon us, it's high time we started assembling the outfits we'll wear for the season ahead. After trawling through the Instagram accounts of our favourite influencers, we managed to come up with nine key looks that are ideal for any sort of weather October might throw at us.

From the ultimate cool coat needed for chilly mornings to the summer dress you can wear right through until spring, there are plenty of outfit ideas you'll want to copy immediately. Without further ado, this is what to wear in October.

1. COAT + WIDE-LEG TROUSERS

Style Notes: Wide-leg trousers were the It buy of summer, so carry them with you into the new season by pairing them with a roll-neck knit and a chic coat. If in doubt, simply follow Abi Omole’s flawless lead.

Shop the look:

Rejina Pyo Agnes Coat Virgin Wool Felt Green (£895)

Marks and Spencer Pure Cashmere Roll Neck Jumper (£89)

Arket High Waist Linen Trousers (£69)

2. CARDI + MINISKIRT + KNEE-HIGH BOOTS

Style Notes: The last days of bare-leg season are upon us, so make the most of them by pairing a miniskirt with a fluffy knit. Simply add tights when you can't withstand the chill any longer.

Shop the look:

Missoma Gold Twisted Link T-Bar Chain Necklace (£325)

& Other Stories Statement Collar Knit Cardigan (£75)

Karen Millen Check Boucle Co-Ord Skirt (£80)

Russell & Bromley Meridian Boots (£375)

3. PUFFER JACKET + SQUARE-TOE BOOTS

Style Notes: Puffer jackets are—some would say—imperative when temperatures drop. Handily, Tiffany Hsu has found the most on-trend way to wear them: with a belt bag and square-toe boots.

Shop the look:

John Lewis & Partners Midi Puffer Coat, Khaki (£89)

Rodebjer Oversized Ribbed Knit Sweater (£155)

Frame Le Crop Mini Boot Leather Jeans (£960)

Monki Square-Toe Boots (£45)

4. DOUBLE DENIM + WHITE BOOTS

Style Notes: Jeans might be the first thing you reach for at the moment, but that doesn't mean you need to completely forgo skirts. Instead, take cues from Sylvie Mus and pair a denim midi with a jean shirt and finish with white boots.

Shop the look:

Gap Oversized Denim Shirt (£50)

AllSaints Evelyn Leather Belt (£65)

Isabel Marant Dipoma Denim Midi Skirt (£375)

BY FAR Edie Leather Knee-High Boots (£484)

5. SHACKET + JEANS

Style Notes: Shackets have been on the rise for a few seasons now. This autumn, we'll be wearing ours like Aïda Sané of Basics Touch did by pairing one alongside straight-leg jeans and neutral heels.

Shop the look:

Marks and Spencer Belted Shacket (£55)

COS Straight-Leg Jeans (£59)

Mango Asymmetric Stiletto Shoes (£80)

6. SLIP SKIRT + FLUFFY JUMPER

Style Notes: One of the best bits about getting dressed for autumn is the gorgeous texture pairings you can create within your look. Wool and silk are so premium when worn together.

Shop the look:

H&M Knitted Jumper (£18)

& Other Stories Satin Midi Skirt (£165)

River Island Black Leather Block Heeled Boots (£60)

7. VIBRANT KNIT + CHECK TROUSERS

Style Notes: There's nothing like a vibrant knit to brighten up a cloudy October day. This season, we're elevating the typical jumper-and-jeans look by pairing our favourite knits alongside printed trousers instead.

Shop the look:

Jigsaw Fine Wool Blend Crew Jumper in Green (£99)

BY FAR Miranda Croco Shoulder Bag (£530)

See by Chloé Checked Trousers (£265)

Converse All Star Hi 70 S Trainers (£75)

8. SLOUCHY BLAZER + FLORAL MIDI DRESS

Style Notes: Your floral dresses needn't be relegated to the back of your wardrobe until spring. At this time of year, we advise wearing them with slouchy wool blazers and closed-toe shoes.

Shop the look:

& Other Stories Oversized Wool Blazer (£165)

Ghost Luella Floral Print Midi Dress in Yellow Ditsy (£95)

Charles & Keith Chalk Pointed Toe Slingback Pumps (£49)

9. BLOUSE + ROLL-NECK + JEANS

Style Notes: Blouses can often feel threadbare once the autumn weather sets in. Make yours work for the lower temperatures by layering a thin roll-neck underneath it.

Shop the look:

Massimo Tutti Button-Down Shirt (£60)

Weekend Max Mara Multif Top (£65)

Hollister Curve High-Rise Jeans (£42)

Aeydē Noel Leather Ankle Boots (£350)
