When Beyoncé landed the cover of the 2007 SI Swimsuit Issue, she became the first non-model or non-athlete in the brand’s history to do so. Sixteen years after that dazzling feature, we’re still thinking about it.

The 88-time Grammy Award nominee traveled to Southern Florida for her photoshoot with Cliff Watts, which resulted in numerous stunning snapshots of the “Single Ladies” singer. Beyoncé donned bright one-pieces and sparkling bikinis in front of the photographer’s lens, an experience she described as “amazing,” particularly due to her wardrobe on location.

“You know, I’m not a model, I’m not an athlete, and I’m on the cover of Sports Illustrated, it’s amazing to me and I never thought it would happen,” Queen Bey said at the time of her feature. “It’s great for us, our clothing line, House of Deréon, I’m wearing all of our swimsuits. My mother was able to design them, it’s a great launch for us and I’ve never done a swimsuit spread, so you know, what better place to do that? A magazine that’s so classy and so elegant, still very sexy, but in a very, very upscale, classy way.”

The 42-year-old has 32 Grammy Awards to her name, making her the artist with the most wins of all time. The “CUFF IT” singer is also a proud mom of three. She shares her children, Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir, with fellow award-winning R&B artist Jay-Z.

In honor of Beyoncé’s ongoing “Renaissance World Tour,” we’re throwing it back to six of our favorite looks from her SI Swimsuit feature.
