The team at OnBuy surveyed 4,389 pet owners from across the UK to uncover the words and phrases dogs react to the most, monitoring their heart rate once each of the most common words were mentioned.

It's no surprise that "walkies" scooped the top spot, with a dog's heart rate increasing by a whopping 36% every time they hear the phrase. Other words that make our four-legged friends the happiest include "treat", "get it", "fetch" and "get your toy".

"I have two lovely Rottweilers and every time the word 'walkies' is mentioned, it's close to the reaction you'd get if England won the World Cup," Nadia from Birmingham told OnBuy. "My husband and I now have to spell out the word to each other."

Elsewhere in their research, they also discovered that French Bulldogs, Beagles, Rottweilers, Labrador Retrievers, and Dachshunds are the dog breeds most excited by "happy" commands.
