We’re a 'woke' generation that’s no stranger to magic and manifestation, be it the occasional bedroom by candlelight wish, to casually hexing our exes for all eternity, or loudly chanting whilst naked at a full-blown fire ceremony in the back garden...

These witchy extremities are all well and good, but how do we bring this magic into our daily beauty routines for self-love, positivity and all-round good vibes? Well, we can apply it to the most mundane of tasks, from brushing our teeth to our moisturising rituals, to inject some transformational charms and super-charge our innermost beautiful witch, without disturbing the neighbours or setting the shed aflame in the process.

Adding magic into an already solid routine to transform your beauty and skincare practice can become second-nature. The aim? To cast a daily inside-out attraction spell on yourself, to help you look and feel your best and turn heads for all the right reasons.

Our daily habits are the perfect place to start, as they’re already inherently ritualistic, so all that’s needed is a pivot, a tweak and the right intentions to make them magic.

How To Add A Little Magic To Your Beauty Routine

1.Super-Charge Your Crystal Roller By Moonlight

We’re well versed on the benefits of crystal skin rollers, how they improve circulation, tone and beautifully massage the skin, but after it’s served its daily purpose, then what? It’s important to clean it of course and depending on its form, there are certain ways to amplify your face roller's magic powers, from water to smoke and sound.

Add water

This can involve immersing the roller in warm water with added plants, such as rose petals for energy cleansing, or basil leaves for antibacterial powers. Just be sure to hold-off on the salts, as this can erode your favourite face tool.

Add smoke

With smoke, you can use a sage stick or burner with purifying resins to clean the crystal.

Add sound

With sound, the vibrations of singing bowls over the roller will bring it back into harmony ready for its next use. This technique can also be used over water, to charge it with positive vibrations for other beauty product cleaning, such as make-up brushes or your trusty sponges.

Add moonlight

Cleaning any skincare or make-up tool should be part of any routine as good hygiene practice, but we can go one step further and ‘charge’ the crystal using the power of the moon. This is also part of the cleaning process, to help shed the negative energy and build up any positive ions that you are going to be in close contact with, literally, all over your face.

To get started, place your roller on a windowsill in the light of the moon every night to keep it charged. The moon will take care of the rest.

2. Brew Your Morning Beauty Potion

Your answer to your morning wake-up routine may be coffee, but you should think about switching it out for something more soul nourishing to complement your am make-up application.

There’s many beauty elixirs and pill-form herbal-based wonders for everything from improved skin clarity, to luscious hair and nails, but whatever happened to a good old-fashioned brew? Why not bring a natural herbal infusion into your morning routines as part of a daily intention-setting practice, perfect for taking a moment of calm after you wake up and think about the day ahead.

You can add your favourite flavours, from natural herbs like chamomile, to orange zest or fresh mint, brewed and strained so you can slowly enjoy your homemade tea potion whilst applying your products with love.

Brush on your foundation in heart shapes and any symbols that have a meaning to you, so that you’re seeing them in the mirror and working them into your day from the get-go, believing in them with every sip. Move over, coffee!

3. Wash Your Mouth Out, Always

We spend all day interacting with others, some of us on non-stop Zoom calls, others with colleagues or dealing with day-to-day life admin crises – all of which involves speech. Our words have power, with everything we say posing an opportunity to manifest itself into reality.

Affirmations are used in this way for good, but naturally we may fall into a negative mode. This could be gossip, a bad joke, or a full-blown fiery argument, so it’s important we cleanse our mouths from this negativity and banish bad vibes with the brush.

Brushing your teeth with charcoal will not only make your pearly whites glow but also purify your mouth from the day’s cursing. Charcoal removes toxins both physically and energetically and has been believed to be the case for thousands of years. We can adopt it as part of our routines and wash our mouths out, both metaphorically and literally.

4. Shower In Nature Without Leaving Your Home

Sure, we all love the idea of bathing outside in a natural hot spring, with a tropical climate surrounded by exotic flowers, in some sort of idyllic nineties hair ad, but we have to be realistic. Instead, bring a piece of the outside world into your bathroom, so you can feel as connected to nature as possible, in spite of city living.

Add a sprig of eucalyptus to your weekly flower shop (or forage for it locally of course) and place it in your bathroom, wrapped around your shower head. It'll react perfectly with the hot water and steam and give an uplifting invigorating aroma that's particularly beneficial in the colder autumnal months.

Alternatively, you can add eucalyptus leaves to any shower oils you already have to boost their energy cleansing power and help clear unseen and unspoken negative ‘vibes’. Use in your morning shower to kick-start your day and transform your auric sphere.

5. Cleanse Away The Day With A Night Time Bath

Bathing has a long and interesting history, from the famous Turkish Baths to Roman and Greek eras, and it continues to be a well-loved ritual that’s often savoured by those looking for a little post-work unwinding session. Bathing can be made into a personal and sacred practice, as we cleanse the day’s energies away – from the bad encounter on the tube, to the frustrating afternoon meeting - it can all be washed away in the ceremonial space that is your bathroom.

Using your intuition is key - there’s no wrong way to build a magical immersion, it’s what you make it. Your bath time intention is just as important as what you choose to put in the water.

Sprinkling flower petals in your bath can add both fragrant and healing properties, with rose colours in particular symbolising different energies and plant traits to support us, from the feminine rosy pink, to the masculine deep red hue. Give your physical and mental body a break and let the water envelope you, as you submerge in the plants and petals.

You can also add crystals around the side of the bath – or in the water if you have shards of selenite - along with candles and incense to instil a sense of calm as you reconnect with yourself, clear your head and start to focus on the most positive aspects of your day.
