These Top-and-Jeans Outfits Are the Lazy Way to Do Party Dressing

·3-min read

Ah, jeans and a nice top. Where would we be without this classic fashion combination? Usually our go-to for festive drinks and easy going-out ensembles, it's certainly served us well over the decades, but last year, it took on an even greater significance as we found ourselves on the lookout for low-effort, sofa-appropriate (and dare I say Zoom-ready) party looks. When heels and form-fitting frocks were the last things we wanted to be wearing after months of comfy loungewear, a nice top and jeans were the perfect way to dress up with minimal effort and maximum impact.

Luckily, despite the fact that the country has opened up again, this low-effort approach to party dressing is sticking around for 2021, and our favourite influencers have provided us with more than enough inspiration in this department. We've found a plethora of top options—from sequins to sheer organza—cropping up on our feeds, all you need to do is add your fave jeans and pretty flats, and you're ready to go. So if you're looking for low-key party outfit inspo this year, scroll down to see and shop the best outfits around. Happy browsing!

1. Sequins

Style Notes: Party season means one thing: sequins. Give an embellished top an edgy overhaul by styling it with classic blue denim, a velvet clutch, and undone hair. Take it from our muse, Monikh Dale.

Arket Regular Stretch Cropped Jeans (£59)

Rosantica Alice Crystal and Velvet Clutch Bag (£855)

Rogue Matilda Tootsie in Velvet (£165)

2. Tulle

Style Notes: Nensi Dojaka is the up-and-coming designer making sheer fabrics chic again. Camille Charrière is snapped here in one of the brand's tulle party tops paired perfectly with loose-fitting black jeans.

COS Valentina Dark Blue Flared-Leg Jeans (£275)

3. The Bustier

Style Notes: Hark back to the noughties with the classic bustier top. Make like Sylvie Mus, and style yours with high-waisted jeans and kitten heels.

Vintage High Waisted Light Wash Blue Jeans (£60)

Daisy London X Estée Lalonde Goddess Glow 18kt Gold-Plated Hoop Earrings (£130)

4. The Silky Blouse

Style Notes: Sometimes, less is more in the party-top stakes, and Marisa Martins makes a very good case for the cream satin blouse. Keep it low-key with a trench or, for a dressier look, opt for a classic black blazer.

Alice+Olivia Ash Bow-Detailed Silk-Blend Satin Blouse (£152)

Gap High Rise '90s Loose Jeans With Washwell in Organic Cotton (£50)

Wandler Lois Large Leather Shoulder Bag (£700)

COS Organic Cotton Oversized Trench Coat (£150)

Ganni Neck-Tie Leopard-Print Silk-Blend Blouse (£105)

Hollister Ultra High Rise Super Skinny Jeans (£39)
