30 Things To Do Before You’re 30

1. Travel somewhere you don’t know the language

This is a great way to learn how you communicate with others. It also opens your eyes to the world around you and you may learn some new things about yourself.

2. Date someone who isn’t your type

You never know who could be Mr Right or Mrs Right, so why not step out of your comfort zone. You never know what may happen, you could have more in common with someone who isn’t your type. Also its a great way to differentiate what your type is and whether they are what you are looking for.

3. Treat yourself to something expensive

You only live once so why not spend a little extra cash of something you have always wanted no matter what the price. As long as you don’t go completely overboard with spending one expensive item might be something you keep beyond your 30′s.

4. Cook a huge meal & throw a dinner party

It’s a great way to spend some quality time with the people you love. Also it helps test your cooking abilities and to see how you are as a host.

5. Learn how to bartend and create cocktails

If you are a drinker, this could be a fun experience for you. You could book yourself into a cocktail class or you can budget by creating your own cocktails at home using online recipes. So why not invite your friends along and see whose cocktails taste the best.

6. Travel somewhere alone

Whether its a new city or country, spending time on your own allows you to become more independent and more in touch with yourself.

7. Perform at a karaoke bar

You don’t have to be the next Taylor Swift to have fun. Karaoke is a great way to get rid of fear and let go of insecurity. There are many karaoke nights held and you could try a new city if your afraid of spotting a familiar face in the crowd.

8. Embrace your physical self

Take a long look in the mirror and accept your flaws. Accepting yourself for who you are shows that you are ready to take on anything. You can always eat healthy and exercise or show off your assets. However you feel, keep it real with yourself and learn to feel comfortable in your own skin.

9. Have a getaway with friends

Whether you stay local, try another city or country, spend time with your friends and create new memories. This is a great way to stay social and to have some time away from the stresses of work and family life.

10. Go on a road trip

There is nothing better than the breeze in your hair while listening to your favourite songs. So why not plan a road trip and explore a new city and its surroundings.

11. Join a political debate

This could be an online group or a debate in public, if you believe strongly about something you may as well let your voice be heard. There is so much going on in the world, why not get involved as you could be the change the world needs.

12. Start a collection

If you are passionate about something why not start a collection, no matter what the size is. Having your own collection helps to keep you in a positive mood being surrounded or looking at something you love.

13. Have a portrait taken

You will look back at yourself and reminisce about the days when you were younger. So why not take part in a photo-shoot or allow your friends to take photos of you that you can keep in your house. It’s a great way to stay in touch with your youth and it can help boost your confidence.

14. Eat expensive food

They may come in tiny portions, but you’ll be surprised how good it tastes and you may ask yourself why you have never thought about doing this earlier. It doesn’t have to be a monthly thing, but its a great way to experience new food and a new scenery than the usual Nandos or Pizza Express.

15. Create your family tree

This is a great way to get to know your background and where you came from. Many questions you may want to know will be answered just by looking back a few decades in the family. This is something you can show your friends or children in the future. You may learn something new about yourself.

16. Live a day without make-up or hair products

Get to know the real you, flaws and all. There is something about being fresh faced that allows you to feel you can take on anything and become anyone. You can stay indoors if you wish, however you could always go out and explore and see how people see you in your own skin.

17. Teach yourself something you didn’t learn at school

In school, they can’t teach you everything about the world around you. So why not find a subject you were once passionate about and go deeper into research. Self-knowledge gives you more knowledge about the world around you and you can focus on what you missed out on.

18. Live somewhere new

Discover a new city or country, its something that you may not be able to do later in life. Even if its just a month, living somewhere new opens your eyes to new people, new adventures and helps you to learn new things about yourself.

19. Challenge your cooking skills

You could join a cooking club or try a new recipe at home, learning a new cooking skill is something that benefits you in the future. You may surprise yourself of how nice your cooking taste and it may become a regular thing to step outside your food comfort zone.

20. Learn a new language

Even if you never get chance to use it, by learning a couple of words or counting up to a certain number in a different language may help on future trips abroad or if you ever bump into someone foreign. It also helps keep your mind active.

21. Go to see a musical or a broad-way show

It may not be your kind of thing, but you will never truly know that until you at least try it out for yourself. Whether its a daytime or late night show, any spare time you get at least have one ticked off your bucket list.

22. Go on a Euro Trip

Europe is a big place with many beautiful countries and sights. So why not take a weekend break to discover a new place. You can take many photos and create memories. There is something about going abroad that helps broaden your mind.

23. Manage money wisely

We live in a digital age so learning how to set up money into new accounts, and you can even set up a savings account online or through your mobile phone. This will make it easier to handle your money and keep spare money around to do most of these things before you turn 30.

24. Go to a Museum or Art Gallery

Whether you go solo, with friends, family or your partner its a great way to learn new things. It opens your eyes to new surroundings and you could learn facts to tell others.

25. Be a kid for a day

We grow up too fast and sometimes we forget that we once were stress free individuals who lived carelessly and thought the world was our oyster. So why not do something you used to do, like go to a trampoline place or go to a park and buy an ice cream from an ice cream van. You could also take a bike ride or have a picnic in the park. Get in touch with your younger self.

26. Going Solo

Some people take a solo trip abroad, while others prefer to stay local and try out a new restaurant or watch a movie on their own. Being in your own company, allows you to be comfortable in your own skin and to not be afraid of going solo.

27. Go to a sporting event

Whether you love sports or not, a sporting event is a great way to cheer on an individual or a team and learn more about the sport itself. You never know if you could be a football or rugby fan. Sporting events usually take up a whole day, with travelling and queuing so make a day of it.

28. Party in a big city or new country

Partying in different places can turn out to be lots of fun and you may socialise with new people and make friendships. Its also a great way to let your hair down and have fun, not everything has to be a learning experience.

29. Join a club or create one

Online or in person, joining in with others is a great way to test your communication skills and open your eyes how other people live or speak on things they are passionate about. If you can’t find a club that is right for you, why not create your own one, maybe a book club with friends.

30. Keep the memories alive

Create a tick list, of all the things you have done before turning 30, try to include photographs and maybe note what age you did it and keep the memories alive for longer.
