27 Rare Hublot Watches We Spotted in the Dominican Republic
During a visit to the Dominican Republic with Hublot and Arturo Fuente cigars recently—from which we reported on a fabulous collaboration watch—we spent a fantastic day and evening with cigar-making genius Carlito Fuente, former Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe, and the brand’s new CEO Julien Tornare (who recently moved over from TAG Heuer where he was previously CEO). While those three big wigs were fun to hang with—and Carlito was exceptionally generous with the delicious OpusX cigars—the Hublot collectors gathered there brought the horological heat to the sweltering Dominican air.
Collectors tend to bring out their finest at watch gatherings, of course, but the amount of Hublots brought in for this Caribbean jaunt seemed to surpass previous events, including a recent Hublot gathering at Mugello raceway in Tuscany. The range of models on hand, from Big Bang collabs to diamond-studded chronographs and orange ceramic models, was truly impressive. The passion of the collectors brought a certain romance to the brand that I’ll confess I’d missed before—the avant-garde designs and materials of Hublot watches have always felt so futuristic and high-tech. But passion is passion.
