We know what you're thinking right now: that a spring jacket kinda sounds like an oxymoron. But, let's face it, if you live in rainy GB you'll be needing some form of outerwear on-hand all year round.
Sure, this not-so-showery April has been one of the hottest in history, but you're kidding yourself if you think it'll be dry spells from here on out. Which is why it's time to ditch the heavy outerwear and invest in something lightweight to see you through this season.
We're big fans of the seasonal wardrobe: putting your winter clothes away every six months means you'll be less tempted to buy more once September rolls around. Seriously, consciously uncoupling from your clothes for a while is smart– they'll feel like new again once you're re-united.
Where to start? Put away anything wool or cashmere. Shop for outerwear in cooling fabrics like linen, cotton, denim or nylon (keep anything leather or suede hanging in there, though). Invest in some unlined pieces that are easy to layer, so you can throw a jumper over your summer dresses once the late-August chills kick in.
Safari and blouson jackets are having a bit of a moment RN, but if you're looking for something with longevity we'd suggest going for an oversized blazer (easy to dress up or down), or a timeless bomber/biker/trucker sitch (they only get better with age).
Need some help deciding? Here are 18 of our faves spring jackets to shop now and wear on that precious once-daily walk.
