During a rally on Saturday, President Donald Trump left the world scratching their heads after suggesting that a terror attack had happened in Sweden the evening before.

"You look at what's happening last night in Sweden," Trump said. "Sweden. Who would believe this? Sweden. They took in large numbers [of refugees]. They're having problems like they never thought possible."

As Sweden itself was quick to confirm, no such incident had occurred - so they reached out to the US to clarify what the president had meant.

On Sunday, Trump took to Twitter to explain that he had been referring to a segment he'd seen on Fox News on Friday night, rather than any specific attack. The White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders added in a statement to ABC that Trump was referring to "rising crime and recent incidents, in general".

In response, Sweden rather sassily tweeted, "We look forward to informing the US administration about Swedish immigration and integration policies."

But of course, the country wasn't alone in lambasting the president for making up a terrorist attack - especially in light of Kellyanne Conway's "Bowling Green Massacre" and Sean Spicer's remarks about Atlanta. Here are just a few more of the funniest tweets about the non-existent attack on Sweden.
