21 Years of Clueless: Here’s How To Get The 90′s Clueless Look For Less

It seems to be the week of anniversaries as Clueless just hit the big 21, they grow up so fast don’t they? Another one of the big chick flicks of the 90′s, it practically invented the phrases “Ugh, as if!” and “Whatever”, now we know where the young teens get it.

The film was loosely based around Jane Austen’s classic Emma and revolved around a good hearted yet totally clueless (duh) teen queen who tries to reinvent the new girl in school and of course it comes with consequences, but it’s a light hearted comedy which you can’t help but love!

If you think back to the 90′s, it was a whole different ball game when it came to fashion and although we keep getting the odd trend inspired by the iconic yet quirky era, we’re really missing the original stuff. Granted we’re thankful for a few changes (hello skinny jeans, goodbye flares) but who didn’t want that yellow plaid matching outfit, her Calvin Klein dress or her double layered gymwear?!

We can’t all be a rich kid from Beverly Hills but we can reinvent some of those classic outfits and maybe feel as glamorous as Cher…

First off that plaid yellow outfit, it’s iconic to the film, even Iggy Azalea wore it in her ‘Fancy’ music video featuring Charli XCX as they paid homage to the film. Plus I’m sure a lot of people have recreated this specific look to be Cher on Halloween but we’re after teen queen not teen scream and here’s our version of how to get that look…

This little outfit can be bought from the GFD Store and is specifically inspired by Clueless (plus it’s made to order and comes in at $95 which results to around £54, not too shabby for the jacket AND the skirt).

Knee high socks are essential for this look and this only come in at £3 from Boohoo! The plain t-shirt can be found from Topshop for £12 and to finish the whole look off with some little heels from ASOS which cost £32. You’ll feel like a queen in this little ensemble.

What girl didn’t want that Calvin Klein dress, nowadays it’s all about their underwear but back in the 90′s that dress was legendary and would probably result in you getting grounded for trying to go out and wear it. Calvin Klein decided to reissue that dress and it was selling for a whopping $916, WHAT.

We found a cheaper version of a simple white and tight dress: Praise ASOS for doing an incredible cheap version of a simple white mini cami dress (this one is only £10!) and match it with some white kitten heels also from ASOS (£17.99) and you’ll be the highlight of the party.

Lastly we go to look at the layered gym class (or P.E) get-up that Cher sported around the beginning of the film - it kinda makes our school exercise clothes look a bit basic in comparison. We’re not looking to dress for the gym with this outfit, taking inspiration from the layers - here’s how to get a sporty yet totally ‘clueless’ chic day look…

A cool and sporty look can be made by mixing this Topshop Midi Dress which comes in at £24 with this crisp white trainers from ASOS which are only £20 (bargain!). You’ll definitely be showing off your inner gym class Cher with this outfit.

Three chic and timeless looks which will give you that 90′s vibe even though it’s 2016 and whoever said the 90′s wasn’t fashion forward, ugh as if!
