Honda has just revealed the new Civic hybrid, which joins the lineup for 2025.
The hybrid powertrain will be available in both the hatchback and sedan body styles.
Styling and feature updates are coming to the rest of the 2025 Civic lineup as well, and the hybrid will go on sale this summer.
The Honda Civic receives a comprehensive update for 2025, including the addition of a hybrid model. We already knew that a gas-electric Civic was returning to the lineup, but now Honda has shared photos of this new variant that also show the refreshed styling that's coming to the entire 2025 Civic range.
Pictured a 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid sedan in Sport Touring trim. In addition to the hybrid badge on the rear, we can see attractive new wheels plus a revised front bumper and grille that looks nearly as aggressive as the outgoing Civic Type R's. Honda also says it will be adding new features to the 2025 Civic, though it hasn't detailed the updates quite yet.
The Civic Hybrid will use a similar setup as the Accord and CR-V hybrids, but we expect it to have a smaller gasoline engine than those larger models. Instead of the 2.0-liter inline-four, we wouldn't be surprised to see a 1.5-liter gas engine in the Civic Hybrid, much like the setup used in the previous Civic-based Insight that was discontinued in 2022.
We're not sure what this means for the Civic's existing engine choices, which include a 2.0-liter inline-four and a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four. Honda said that the lineup will be arranged similar to the CR-V and Accord, meaning that certain trim levels will be offered only as nonhybrids and others only as hybrids. We assume that means the higher trims will be hybrid-only, given the pictured top Hybrid Sport Touring model. Honda hopes that the hybrid will make up 40 percent of Civic sales overall.
Look for more details to come soon about the 2025 Civic Hybrid, which is set to go on sale in the U.S. this summer.
